Description
730252013 These ancient bristlecone pines, pinus longeava, perched on a hillside in the White Mountains of California are some of the oldest living things on earth. One pine, whose location is not given out, is thought to be over 4000 years old. These pines only grow above 9 or 10,000 feet in the high mountains of the western US. Most are protected by law. These two pines are by a hiking trail on BLM protected in what is known as the Schulman Grove. They are great graphic and compositional subjects at sunset when the bark glows gold.
